Work-life balance is something everyone wants to achieve. But when you are working from home, the line between life and work can get blurry fast.

With so many people combining their work and home lives in unexpected ways, burnout of entrepreneurs and remote workers can take a real toll on mental health and well-being.

So how do you maintain work-life balance when you are working remotely? Here are a few tips for you.

#1 - Set schedules and boundaries

Do you want to follow the corporate world and stick to a 9-to-5 schedule? Are you a night owl who prefers to work when everyone’s asleep to avoid interruptions? Whatever your preference, it would be a good idea to create a consistent schedule and stick to it.

Work within those hours and treat the rest of the day as your time off so you can recharge. Avoid answering emails and checking updates during off-hours.

#2 - Take breaks

Being in the zone is a great moment for every entrepreneur. You have laser focus and get to finish difficult tasks faster, tasks that actually contribute to your bottom line. But, it can also be mentally draining.

Taking a break, even a short one, can help lower stress levels and give you energy for your next task.

#3 - Learn to say ‘no’

When you work from home, no one can see how stressed you are. Whether it’s coworkers, a boss, or clients, know your limits and learn when to say no.

Remember that saying ‘no’ doesn’t mean rejecting work. All you’re doing is asking for extra time to finish everything on your plate first before moving on to a new project.

#4 - Go outside

Just because you work and live at home doesn’t mean that you have to stay there all the time. Even a trip to your backyard or a quick walk around the neighborhood during the day can give you a boost of energy (and prevent cabin fever!).

#4 - Delegate or get help

Ever take a look at your to-do list only to see more tasks that you still have to accomplish for the day? While going the extra mile and hustling is the new trend, it’s also a one-way shortcut to burning out.

If you can’t finish everything you need to do in a realistic timeline, then it might be time to start looking for assistance. Assess your workload and look for areas of responsibility that would benefit from getting an assistant or specialist onboard.
